I don’t know what is up with all this "masculine" bashing lately.
To be fair, I guess "bashing" would be a little harsh, but I’ve sure read all kinds of messages lately that, in trying to celebrate female-thinking and female-ness in business, end up putting down masculine-thinking.
Personally, I love men. I much prefer them to female clients. I love how they think. I love that they don’t belabor the most trivial or idiotic of points and can make a freaking decision.
That’s not to say I don’t appreciate my own gender. My greatest role models and mentors in my worklife have been smart, strong, powerful, assertive women who were also every bit beautiful and wonderous and feminine.
However, as far as clients go, I love working with men way more than I ever have with women. I find the male clients that I am attracted to and who are attracted to my business to be decisive and action-oriented. They aren’t wishy-washy; they know what they want and that allows us to get things done!
And why do some folks think men aren’t relationship-oriented? I have the most wonderful relationships with my male clients, and they definitely aren’t cheap-asses (I don’t deal with cheap-asses; the only cheapskates I’ve ever had to deal with have been women). I love that I can talk straight-up with them and they don’t get their panties all in bunch. I much prefer people who can say it like it is than those who have to play games or talk out of both sides of their mouths. Unlike with women, I never have to wonder if what my male clients tell me is exactly what they truly think or feel.
So here’s to men! I love that they’re in the world and I love that they are my best clients.
